GREETING

Professor Naoko Okibe

Creation of environment-friendly technology that connects resources and materials

In resource development processes that impose a significant burden on the Earth’s environment, our mission is to propose new environmentally harmonious resource processing engineering and environmental remediation engineering that contributes to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

RESEARCH SUBJECTS

We are studying not only natural earth resources but also ground resources such as urban mine waste. In addition to separating and refining usable resources with an innovative approach, we are researching technologies for repairing environmental pollution (water and soil pollution) associated with mining.

RESEARCH THEMES

RESEARCH/1

FlotationFlotation Group

Development of Advanced Flotation Technique for Natural Mineral Resources (including Seabed Resources):

The latest approach proposes a novel ‘Green Flotation’ method based on the modification of mineral particles using harmless organic acids and nanoparticles.

RESEARCH/2

Hydrometallurgical LeachingLeaching Group

Development of Novel Leaching Technique to Recover Valuable Metals from Natural Mineral Resources & Urban Mine Resources:

We propose novel leaching methods with low environmental impact, such as Bioleaching and Chemical-organic leaching.

RESEARCH/3

Environmental RemediationRemediation Group

Development of Purification Technique for Wastewater Containing Harmful Metals Generated during Metal Resource Processing:

We focus on the development of Passive Treatment Technologies, particularly in the context of refining waste and mine drainage. T
